Our lab advances the use of wearable inertial sensors (inertial measurement units) to measure and quantify human motion. To this end, we develop novel algorithms and filters that transform data from inertial sensors (accelerometers, angular rate gyros, and magnetometers) to quantitative metrics of human performance for purposes including training, equipment design, health, injury and safety.  Example studies include human walking, running, balancing, jumping, agility, stair-climbing. and detailed studies of the human hip and knee joints.
